Return of Channel 4's Emergency series next week

The Royal London Hospital will once again feature in Channel 4’s series Emergency which looks at the work of the London’s Major Trauma Network. Made up of four major trauma centres across London (at The Royal London, King’s College, St George’s and St Mary’s hospitals), trauma units, ambulance and air ambulance services, the system works together to provide highly specialised care to critically injured patients.

Airing from Monday 12 August, for four consecutive nights at 9pm on Channel 4, the documentary series follows the work of the trauma teams and the minute-by-minute decision made as they treat the most seriously injured patients.

Over four episodes, which were filmed 24/7 across two of the busiest weeks in summer 2022, cameras follow patients as they’re treated through the trauma pathway, from roadside interventions, through resus to intensive care, and surgery to rehabilitation to reflect the variety of specialist treatment that goes into saving patient’s lives.

The network provides a safety net for 10 million people in London, treating 12,000 people with the most serious injuries each year. Over the last five years, the system has improved survival rates for major trauma patients by 50% - saving an estimated 610 lives.

Catch up on the first and second series of Emergency on All4.
