Top 10 in women’s health training

We are delighted to announce that Whipps Cross Hospital has been recognised as one of the top 10 performing units in Obstetrics and Gynaecology training across the UK, as revealed by the latest results from the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RCOG) 2024 Training Evaluation Forms.

Out of 163 units evaluated, Whipps has earned a place among the best, with high commendation in ‘Professional Development’.

This is a testament to our commitment to delivering high-quality education and training to the next generation of healthcare professionals.

Keeley Howard ST5: "I’m not surprised that Whipps Cross O&G has been awarded this TEF certificate as I have found that the department is always supportive in its delivery of training and meeting my training needs. I have gained and developed many skills while working here and the consultant body takes an active interest in our professional development."

Abiya Ahmed ST1:  "As an O&G trainee at Whipps I’ve had an excellent year, learnt lots, and been very well supported by the team so I’m very glad this has been reflected in the TEF award!"

The RCOG’s assessment covered a range of key indicators, including Educational Supervision, Local and Regional Training, Clinical Governance, and the Work Environment, among others. Our exceptional performance in these areas reflects the hard work and dedication of our staff, who are committed to fostering an environment of learning and professional growth.

RCOG College tutor, Ismail Wong said:  “Our commitment to nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals ensures that our patients receive the best care, today and in the future.  We are incredibly proud of this achievement and of the positive feedback from our trainees, which has been instrumental in securing this achievement. As we continue to focus on excellence in training and education, we remain dedicated to providing the highest standard of care to our patients and the community.”

We are grateful to the RCOG for this recognition and we look forward to sharing more about our approach to training and education.

Congratulations to the entire Whipps Cross team on this remarkable achievement!
