Looking after your eyes is important for good vision and overall health. Remember to have regular eye tests, eat healthy foods, protect your eyes from the sun, and rest them when using screens. If you notice any changes in your vision, see an eye care specialist.
Adult orthoptic clinics
Orthoptists are experts who check and treat eye movement problems and misaligned eyes, often linked to medical or brain conditions.
We help people with vision issues like blurred, shaky, or double vision. Some may also have eyes that don't line up, move uncontrollably, or need to tilt their head to see clearly.
We often work with people who have had strokes, brain tumors, or multiple sclerosis. Our team takes referrals directly from hospital wards, stroke teams, and community therapists.

Adult optometry refraction clinics
We offer sight tests (refraction) when it is recommended by your hospital ophthalmologist. The service is for more complex cases and prescriptions that required hospital input and co-ordinated care that cannot be provided by your own community optometrists.
A copy of your prescription will be provided to you to enable you to have glasses dispensed at your own optometrist. If you are entitled to help with the cost of your glasses we will be able to provide you with an hospital eye service (HES) voucher.

Optometry low vision aid (LVA) clinics
Our assessments help to determine what everyday tasks our patients find difficult and aim to help patients maintain independence with the use of low vision aids. We see patients of all ages.
We work closely with the Eye Clinic Liaison Officer (ECLO) who can provide support and help with a range of needs including the certificate of visual impairment (CVI).
Optometry contact lens clinics
Our contact lens service treats patients whose vision cannot be improved with spectacles, but can be improved with contact lenses. We can prescribe and fit contact lenses for a range of medical eye conditions including keratoconus, corneal distortion, or scarred corneas.
We also treat patients with very high prescriptions or to relieve pain or aid cosmesis if your eye has become unsightly due to damange e.g. infection or trauma. Your GP or the hospital ophthalmologist can refer you to our clinics.
