Our new chief nursing officer announced

We are delighted to welcome Rachael Corser to be our new Group Chief Nursing Officer when Caroline Alexander steps down later this year.
Rachael joins us from the NHS integrated care board for Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, and Berkshire West, where she has been chief nurse since 2022.
She previously worked in a variety of executive nursing leadership roles in different healthcare organisations, including leading the response to the Covid-19 pandemic in East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust.
Caroline said: “I have known Rachael for many years, and we are truly lucky to have her. She’s a highly regarded nursing leader who brings experience of both providers and systems, which I know will really help her in this role, as it did me. She is passionate about delivering innovative, inclusive, high-quality healthcare, and inclusion, and will build on the excellent reputation we have as an organisation.”
Early in her nursing career Rachael was a specialist in tissue viability. She has since worked in both hospital and community settings, run education and training for nurses and midwives, led large-scale clinical transformation initiatives, and run workforce development programs.
Rachael is a Florence Nightingale Foundation scholar, a visiting senior clinical Fellow at the University of Hertfordshire and has published research in the nursing literature. As a champion for the profession, she is also a trustee of the Burdett Nursing Trust, a charity whose grants empower nurses to make improvements to patient care environment.,
Rachael said: “It is a privilege and honour to have been appointed to this role and I’m really looking forward to working with staff, patients, and local communities. I am committed to developing the next generation of leaders in nursing, midwifery and AHP practice to drive the excellence and innovation that will shape healthcare here at Barts.”
