2023 Barts Health Heroes winners announced

On Wednesday, we held our annual Barts Health Heroes Awards Ceremony. The awards are a true testament of how staff strive to live our WeCare values, going the extra mile to put our people and patients at the heart of what they do.

The event was extra special with it being the first in a calendar of celebrations to mark the 900th anniversary of St Bartholomew’s Hospital and the 40th anniversary of Newham Hospital. Watch our special video featuring Tolga Musa, security officer at St Bartholomew’s Hospital as we celebrate a momentous year.

Lisa, a patient at The Royal London Hospital, nominated the gynaecology team for a Respectful team award. She was invited to the event to present the trophy.

Not only did the team care for me but they healed me. With every inhale I breathe in gratitude for these women and with every exhale I wish for more like them to climb through the ranks and care for other women.

The awards also gave Shane DeGaris, group chief executive, the opportunity to talk about the exciting future we are building on all sites with our patients, staff and supporters.

“We have been listening to what our staff want; and as well as the chance to attend one of these glitzy events, they tell us they would appreciate more everyday recognition for the little things that people do to go above and beyond”

Well done to all our nominees and congratulations to our amazing Barts Charity, Barts Health Heroes and special recognition winners!
