An update on our board

Barts Health and BHRUT hospitals

Following the resignation of Jacqui Smith as chair in common of Barts Health NHS Trust and Barking, Havering and Redbridge Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT), Shane DeGaris will step down from BHRUT's board and Matthew Trainer will step down from Barts Health's board from this month.

The two trusts have achieved much of the original aims of the collaboration with BHRUT making significant improvements in performance, coming out of special measures, and becoming more financially sustainable.

Despite the decision to defer back to separate chairs, Barts Health and BHRUT will continue to work closely together as part of the Acute Provider Collaborative (APC) for North East London, with Homerton Healthcare.

The three trusts will remain independent organisations with separate Boards and their own executive teams.
