A new era of local care begins

As the St George’s Health and Wellbeing Hub continues to expand its offerings to residents in Havering and surrounding areas, the facility is set to mark another important milestone on 11 November: welcoming its first dialysis patient.

This addition will make high-quality kidney care more accessible for local residents, supporting individuals who previously had to travel further for regular dialysis treatments.

The new dialysis unit, located within the purpose-built, integrated hub, will allow patients to receive essential care in a welcoming environment that is close to home. This service represents a key part of St George’s commitment to providing specialised and accessible care, reducing the burden of travel for patients and ensuring continuity of care within their local community.

With the addition of dialysis services, patients can look forward to:

  • Convenience: The St George’s Hub provides high-quality care close to home, with easy access via public transport and parking facilities.
  • Holistic support: Being located in a comprehensive health and wellbeing hub means dialysis patients will have immediate access to a range of additional services, including outpatient care, mental health support, and social care.
  • Improved quality of life: With fewer lengthy journeys for treatment, dialysis patients can focus on their health and wellbeing, supported by nearby amenities like the community café, sensory garden, and support from local charities and groups.

The arrival of the first dialysis patient on 11 November is just one of many planned expansions at the St George’s Hub, which is set to become a model of integrated care for the region. By hosting a diverse range of health, social, and community services in one place, the hub not only provides better access to healthcare but also fosters a supportive community environment where patients can access holistic resources tailored to their needs.

We look forward to celebrating this milestone as we continue to work towards our goal of transforming healthcare delivery for our communities. Please stay tuned for more updates as additional services become available at St George’s.
