Remembering Susan Rayner

Susan Rayner, a Clerical Officer within the Barts Heart Centre cardiology team based at Whipps Cross, died on 24 November 2020.

Sue joined Whipps Cross in June 1992 as a Senior Ward Clerk. In 2005 she then went onto work as PA/Team Secretary for one of the ECAM heads of nursing. Sue then left Whipps Cross in 2014 to take up an Outpatient Reception Supervisor post at Princess Alexandra Hospital.

Sue obviously missed her Whipps Cross family, as she came back in April 2016 to work as the Admin Support for the Heart Failure Service.

People have many happy memories of working with Sue.

One memory was Sue making tea, and never without a chocolate biscuit, when she could tell someone had a particularly bad time on the wards. She was protective of the matrons and guarded them like a mother hen.

Sue was always willing to help even if it wasn’t part of her role. She always had a smile on her face and was always laughing. She had a great sense of humour and was always very professional and caring when dealing with patients.

Sue was vibrant and always had time to talk. Sue had one of the most engaging smiles, not to be forgotten. She will be greatly missed.
