Parking Changes at Whipps Cross to prepare the site for the new Whipps Cross Hospital
The demolition works are underway to remove the derelict buildings on the site where the new Whipps Cross Hospital will be built.
Hospital services will not be affected by the works. But there are changes to parking for visitors, patients and staff, you may need to park in a different area or on the new temporary surface car parking.
Changes to staff car park exit route
On Saturday 13 and Sunday 14 November we will be required to carry out demolition work for the removal of the chimney (in Phase 4 on map below). This is taking place at the weekend to minimise disruption to hospital services.
This will not impact patient or visitor parking.
Staff can enter the staff car parks in the same way, but will need to exit the staff car park via the James Lane gate. All changes will be signposted and there’ll be marshals to show you where to go.
This exit route will be in place from Saturday 14 November until Monday 15 November inclusive.
New temporary surface car parks
Staff will no longer be able to park around Phase 3 (yellow area marked on map) or next to Phase 4 (pink area marked on the map). Instead there will be a temporary staff car park within Phase 2 (green). Phase 1 (blue) and Phase 5 (purple) are also now temporary staff car parks.
There will be reduced visitor and patient parking in front of Phase 3. More visitor and patient parking will be provided in the space next to Phase 4.
The demolition site hours are between 8am and 6pm Monday to Friday and on Saturdays between 8am and 1pm where activities cannot be completed in the normal working hours of Monday to Friday.
