Covid-19 has highlighted a number of health inequalities in ethnic minority populations. Also, ethnic minority populations are disproportionately affected by Covid-19 as they are more likely to have front line jobs, more likely to live in multigenerational households with older relatives and themselves more likely to have health comorbidities.

Paediatric assessment unit now live at Whipps Cross

On 7 December 2020, we opened a new Paediatric Assessment Unit (PAU) just 100 meters away from our general emergency department. The PAU will provide same-day emergency care for paediatric patients via bookable appointments made by the patient’s GP.

Remembering Nigel Howchin

Nigel Howchin sadly died on Monday 7th December 2020 following a short illness, after suffering a stroke in November. He was 68. Nigel was a much loved member of the Whipps Cross Hospital Estates team. We are all greatly shocked and saddened by this sudden loss.
