Loughton artist fundraises for ‘NHS coronavirus heroes’ after her Dad's care at Whipps Cross
An artist is harnessing her creative prowess to thank the ‘tireless NHS heroes’ who cared for her father when he was stuck down with coronavirus.
Harlie Briggs is fundraising through art for the NHS Charities Together Campaign to support the nation’s healthcare workers and frontline staff care for patients in their “greatest hour of need”.
The 27-year-old is extra grateful for the staff at Whipps Cross Hospital, who looked after her father while he was in intensive care with coronavirus in March.
Harlie, who grew up in Loughton and attended Davenant Foundation School, has launched a JustGiving page where supporters can donate to the cause.
Every £5 donated equates one raffle ticket with a chance to win an original A2 floral abstract piece.
“As NHS staff and volunteers work tirelessly to care for Covid-19 patients in their greatest hour of need, we can take the time to give back to our NHS”, Harlie explained.
“Helping the NHS is imperative during this pandemic, even more so when it hits close to home and affects your immediate family.
“This is just a small gesture for a big thank you to the NHS for taking special care of my dad whilst he was in intensive care with the coronavirus in March. My thoughts go out to all families who continue to be and have been affected by this virus.”
Her mother, Deborah, says she is very proud of her daughter who has already raised more than 50 per cent of her £2,000 target.
“She has always loved being creative and caring”, Deborah recalled. “When she was a toddler she loved drawing and painting around our hands and then painting within the hand and making them into puppets.
“Her favourite thing as a child was Dennis the Menace and she drew him everywhere, even on the bathroom wall with my makeup!”
