Football clubs bring joy and festive cheer to Whipps Cross
Players from the Spurs Women and players from local football club Leyton Orient visited our young patients on Acorn Ward.
The players brought lots of joy and festive cheer and handed out Christmas presents to our patients, who got really excited about the surprise visit and were also keen to get their photo taken with the players.
Stephen Duke-McKenna, George Moncur and Paul Smyth from Leyton Orient visited the children’s ward along with the club’s mascot at the beginning of December.
Stephen said:
“It was great to go around the ward, give them presents and put a smile on their faces.”
Chioma Ubogagu and Kerys Harrop from the Spurs Women came to the ward on 20 December with Christmas presents for our young patients and also goodies for our staff.
Christine Fogarty, Associated Director of Nursing for Children at Whipps Cross Hospital, said:
“It was great to have Kerys and Chioma on the ward bringing so much festive joy and cheer to our young patients, particularly at this time of the year.
“This meant a lot to them and put a big smile on their faces, and it also gave our staff a real boost.”
