Tributes paid to The Queen
The Barts Health family have been paying tribute to The Queen, following her death on Thursday 8 September 2022.
Group chief executive Shane DeGaris said: “It is with great sadness that we mourn the passing of The Queen. Her Majesty was patron of The Royal London Hospital since 1990 and we were honoured to welcome her to many of our hospitals over the years. We send our heartfelt condolences to the King and the whole of The Royal Family."
Elsewhere, we have been remembering the number of occasions when Her Majesty visited our hospitals and met with our hardworking staff, and the shining example of public service that she set.
Everyone at @NewhamHospital is incredibly saddened by the passing of The Queen. Her Majesty opened our hospital nearly 40 years ago, taking the time to meet members of staff.

Her Majesty’s patronage was a great source of pride for us, as the London Hospital became the Royal London Hospital in 1990, on through her many visits to staff & patients, to her recent opening of the Queen Elizabeth Unit. St Bartholomew's chief executive Charles Knight said: "All of us at @BartsHospital are profoundly saddened at the passing of The Queen. Her Majesty visited the Royal Hospital of St Bartholomew on many occasions, including during our 850th birthday celebrations, half a century ago. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Royal Family."
Whilst Whipps Cross chief executive Ralph Coulbeck tweeted to say: "The Queen provided a shining example of public service to everybody in the NHS and all our staff here at Whipps Cross Hospital. We are greatly saddened by her loss and send sincere condolences to the royal family."
A book of condolence has opened online for those wishing to pay their respects.
What this means for you
All of our hospitals remain open at this time. If you have an appointment at one of our hospitals, please do still attend, or if you are unable to, please let your clinical team know.
During this period of mourning, we will not be sending out our usual newsletters and will be quieter on our social media channels, but will continue to monitor and reply to any direct messages we receive as appropriate.
We have also made the decision to move our public board meeting to a later date. We will update our website with the details of the new date and time once they are confirmed.
