“I will always be grateful to the team that kept me alive”

In December 2020, Julie was travelling in a car with her son in Essex when she was involved in a head-on collision.

The accident left her with a number of severe injuries including a broken back, broken neck, several broken ribs and a number of internal injuries. She was taken to The Royal London Hospital where the trauma team performed several major operations which saved her life.

She was placed in an induced coma for around 5 weeks which meant she missed both her son’s 21st birthday and Christmas.

After being brought out of her coma, Julie then underwent a three-month recovery plan which included learning to walk again and using her arms .

She also had more surgery to fix her internal organs which were badly damaged during the accident. Her last procedure was July 2023.

"I will always be eternally grateful to the team that helped keep me alive and put me back together again. I am so lucky and happy to be here and am living my best life ,” she said.

Looking towards the future, Julie said she is looking forward to turning 60 and doing some swimwear modelling for her friend’s fashion company .
