Inherited cardiovascular conditions service

Based at Barts Heart Centre, our inherited cardiovascular conditions (ICC) service provides specialist care for adults with inherited and acquired cardiomyopathies.

We offer diagnosis, treatment, and genetic counselling to help patients and their families manage their condition.

Our team includes consultants, genetic counsellors, clinical nurse specialists, and imaging experts, working closely with cardiac surgery, electrophysiology, interventional cardiology, and device therapy teams.

Who we care for

We assess and treat patients with cardiomyopathy or a family history of the condition, including:

  • Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy
  • Dilated cardiomyopathy
  • Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy
  • Restrictive cardiomyopathy
  • Inflammatory cardiomyopathy and myocarditis
  • Neuromuscular and metabolic heart conditions

We accept referrals from north and east London, Hertfordshire, Essex, and nationally for specialist assessments. We also transition young patients from Great Ormond Street Hospital into adult care.
