Board welcomes Siva Anandaciva
One of the most influential experts on health policy has joined the Barts Health board as an associate non-executive director.
Siva Anandaciva, director of policy, events and partnerships at the King’s Fund think-tank, was appointed under the NHS NExT Director scheme.
This is a development programme designed to help find and support the next generation of talented people from groups who are currently under-represented on NHS boards.
The 12-month placement gives successful candidates a unique insight into the role and responsibilities of being an NHS non-executive director while also supporting NHS boards by bridging knowledge gaps.
Siva said: “I’m so pleased to have this chance and to join Barts Health for the coming year. Both my boys were born at the Royal London Hospital, my youngest has been cared for at Whipps Cross and the Royal London for most of the past three years, and my sister-in-law works at Newham Hospital.
“So, I feel a deep connection to Barts Health, the services it delivers, and the role it plays in my community and life. I’m looking forward to learning a lot more about how the trust works and to seeing what I can contribute from my day job in health policy to improve care for both our staff and patients.”
Before taking up his current role at the King’s Fund, Siva was its Chief Analyst, and before that Head of Analysis at NHS Providers, the membership body for NHS trusts.
He is an expert on NHS funding, productivity and performance, and previously worked on medicines policy and urgent and emergency care at the Department of Health and Social Care.
Siva is a member of the Office of Health Economics policy committee and the steering group of the BRACE Rapid Evaluation Centre and chaired the National Payment Strategy Advisory Group for NHS England and NHS Improvement.
In recent years Siva was among the Health Service Journal list of the 50 most influential Black, Asian and minority ethnic figures in health care.
