Remembering Jeff Edwards

Jeff Edwards, who worked as a Whipps Cross Hospital porter for over 35 years, passed away last week.

Jeff was a larger-than-life character, who was known by everyone that worked at the hospital. He always had a smile on his face, and nothing was too much trouble for him – because he loved working in the hospital and conversing with all members of staff he came into contact with.

He was a mentor for new porters and would advise them on the ways of the portering department without appearing to be dictatorial. Porters related to his personality and his managers always looked to him for his experience. He will be remembered for his decades-long commitment and dedication to the rights and conditions of his fellow porters.

Jeff was a kind and thoughtful man – that always brought laughter to all.
