Working at Newham University Hospital

Newham University Hospital is one of our district general hospitals based in East London near to where the Olympic Games were held in 2012. The hospital itself retains a real family feel in the heart of the local community. Most of our staff stay for many years because there are so many opportunities to develop themselves professionally.

Our work

We offer a full range of acute services including an Emergency Department which sees over 400 patients per day, one of the largest maternity units in the UK with around 7,000 births. Our dedicated stroke unit is for rehabilitation for patients who have usually spent the first 72 hours at The Royal London and is fully dementia friendly. We provide long term care and diagnostics from Newham. Our Children’s unit re-opened in February 2017 bringing all children’s services together for the first time allowing children access to specialist clinics, community nurses and playwork as well as in patient, day patient and out patient care.

Your career

Newham serves one of the most diverse populations in the country and our team here are committed to finding new and innovative ways of delivering healthcare to our community. We specialise in finding alternative ways to meet the needs of our community and look to deliver the best treatment and support in partnership with community and specialist providers rather than the traditional 'hospital model'. Working in these different settings can give staff a real opportunity to get to know their patients and the local area.
