Nurses help Flo to celebrate her 100th birthday in style

Nurses at The Royal London Hospital ensured that a fall on New Year’s Eve didn't stop Florence Green from celebrating her 100th birthday.

Realising the special day was fast approaching, the team rallied around to provide her with a bedside birthday cake, balloons and banners - complete with a much-deserved cup of tea.

An overjoyed Flo said to the hospital team: "I can't thank you enough."

It had been a disappointing start to the year for Florence, known as 'Flo', following the fall at her home in Chingford on New Year's Eve.

Having undergone surgery, the team hope she'll soon be home to open her birthday card from the Queen.

Ugochi Agbasimelo, Senior Nurse in Trauma, Orthopaedics and Plastics at The Royal London Hospital said: “Flo had a lovely time celebrating her 100th birthday, and we were delighted to celebrate it with her. We always like to put a smile on our patients’ faces, and the team did an incredible job rallying around to make sure Flo’s landmark birthday didn’t get missed simply because of being in hospital. I’m very proud.”
