It's Dementia Action Week

Dementia Action Week has kicked off to a great start with awareness stands going on around the Trust offering hand massages, refreshments and information to patients, carers and staff.

Today the Dementia and Delirium team will be raising awareness at Newham Hospital in the main atrium until 3pm.

Tomorrow they will be at Whipps Cross and on Thursday, an afternoon tea and fun activities will be held for patients at The Royal London.

Hand massages were given out to patients yesterday at the Royal London and forget-me-not homemade cakes were sold in aid of Barts Charity.

Lynda Mcnab, dementia lead nurse, said: "We are doing a ‘flash mob’ across the sites this week as part of Dementia Action Week offering hand massage to staff, patients and carers. It is a good way of getting the message across that we need to care for ourselves in order to care for others."
