Get health advice and join in the fun at July Open Day

Enjoy free family fun, get some top health tips and explore the history of our local NHS; pop in to the Barts Health Open Day at Barts Health Open Day on Saturday, 7th July 2018.

The annual Open Day celebrating ‘The NHS: Past, Present and Future’ runs from 11.30am – 3.00pm, and will this year mark the special 70th birthday of the NHS in July. A dynamic installation will explore memories of the East End from patients and staff, with visitors welcome to add their own memories and photos to the hospital-themed interactive display.

Alan Gurney, Managing Director of Whipps Cross Hospital said: “I am delighted that this year’s annual Barts Health open day will be held at Whipps Cross, generously funded by Barts Charity. We welcome everyone down to meet our friendly team, pick up top health tips and - most importantly - have plenty of fun. We look forward to seeing you!”

Take the opportunity for a free pulse check from hospital nurses, and learn how to support your mental health through mindfulness. Hospital staff will also be on hand to advise how to spot signs of sepsis, give information about dementia and explain why it’s important to look after your kidneys.

Those looking for their first step on the career ladder or a change of job can also explore Barts Health’s apprenticeship and recruitment opportunities.

Family fun includes a giant ‘Generation’ game and drumming workshop, and kids will have great fun exploring emergency vehicles, making healthy fruit smoothies on a juice bike and trying hair braiding. Gather in a marquee to listen to the City Bells - a bright and lively saxophone quartet - or take away souvenir photos from the day in a fun photo booth with props.
