Advice for patients needing our hospitals

Our hospitals are extremely busy and our staff are working incredibly hard to make sure patients get the high quality care they need.

Some of our hospitals and departments are under more pressure than others, so in line with the recommendations from NHS England we are taking steps to make sure we prioritise care for those most in need.

All cancer operations and time-critical procedures will go ahead as planned and we will make every effort to make sure as many planned procedures and appointments as possible take place during this busy period. Patients with any appointments or planned operations should attend our hospitals as normal unless they are contacted by us.

We are also asking the public to play their part by using our services responsibly.  Knowing the right place to go at the right time can help everyone receive the care and treatment they need. This includes visiting pharmacies for help treating coughs, colds and other minor ailments, and calling the free NHS 111 number for urgent advice. This can really help our staff in A&E to focus on the sickest patients.

We will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as appropriate.
