Bill Boa, Interim Group Chief Finance Officer
Bill is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. Following his degree in English Literature and Language he joined Ernst and Whinney in London as a trainee. He qualified with Ernst & Whinney and worked in a range of services including audit, mergers and acquisitions, corporate recovery and the private healthcare sector.
Bill joined the NHS in 1991 and became a Director of Finance at his first NHS Trust in 1995. He worked in the NHS until 2012 and in that time worked as an Executive in Community Trusts, Mental Health Trusts, Acute Trusts, Primary Care Trusts and Foundation Trusts and also worked as Deputy in the South West Strategic Health Authority.
Bill left the NHS in 2013 and has subsequently worked as a consultant, interim and coach in a number of large acute providers. He has been interim CFO at St George’s Healthcare NHS Trust, North Bristol NHS Trust, Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children NHS Foundation Trust, and Cambridge University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust amongst a number of other other organisations.
Bill returned to Barts Health NHS Trust in 2017 as Financial Improvement Director working jointly for the Trust and NHS Improvement’s Financial Special Measures team.
Bill is a Trustee and Treasurer of Arts and Health South West, a charity promoting the role of Arts in Health and Wellbeing.
