Dementia buddies

We aim to have 80 volunteers specifically trained in dementia awareness and care providing friendship and entertainment to keep patients morale engaged and positive.

The role of our dementia buddies

Our dementia buddies provide friendship, conversation and activities to dementia patients and ensure that day rooms linked to dementia care have interesting materials/displays and other resources.

The role of our dementia buddies is to:

  • support and create interesting and entertaining environments including day rooms and other for the patients.
  • provide conversation, and other valuable activities such as: reading, playing games, or just listening to somebody talking
  • Make sure patients have a comfortable experience when eating and that they are able to choose the food that they eat at meal times.

Location

Dementia buddies work on across all of our hospital sites. There are currently vacancies at:
