Elective placements

Final year medical students can apply for a medical elective placement lasting up to eight weeks which provides them with experience of various clinical conditions. Most final year medical students both in the UK and overseas are required to take part in an elective.

Who can apply?  

Medical students who are in or about to enter their final year of study of Medicine (MBBS course or equivalent). The programme is not open to those who are in other years of study, other full time education, school leavers, or have already qualified.

Dental students are eligible for an elective attachment at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry if they are in the last two years of their dental course at the time of the elective.
