Leyton Orient captain, Nathan Clarke and midfielder Romain Vincelot, made a festive visit to children on Acorn ward, Whipps Cross Hospital, bearing gifts and signed photographs to help lift spirits as part of their annual Christmas visit.

As part of their annual Christmas visit to children’s wards, Spurs first team players Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli and Vlad Chiriches made an early stop to Acorn ward, Whipps Cross Hospital, bearing gifts and presents for all children. They were also accompanied this year by Tottenham Hotspur Ladies team player, Avilla Bergin.

Christmas came early to children at The Royal London Hospital yesterday (Tuesday 9 December 2014) as Santa beamed in live by video from the North Pole to make sure children were able to let him know their Christmas wishes. With a little help from Santa’s elves, children entered the children’s hospital healing space to find it transformed into a winter wonderland, where they were welcomed by Santa as he appeared on a giant floor-to-ceiling TV to speak with each child, just as if they were in a regular Santa’s grotto.

Parents of children and babies being cared for at The Royal London Hospital were treated to a special pamper and spa day held at the hospital on Tuesday 2 December 2014.Beauticians, masseuses and hairdressers all kindly volunteered their time to offer manicures, hand, shoulder and head massages, as well as offer parents the chance to have their hair cut and styled.

Barts Health NHS Trust, Maggie’s and The Friends of The Great Hall and Archive of St Bartholomew’s Hospital are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to take forward shared proposals for a Maggie’s Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and for improved facilities for visitors to the Hospital’s Great Hall. The parties were brought together by the local planning authority, the City of London Corporation after The Friends commenced judicial review proceedings this summer.

Parents were barred from The Royal London Children’s Hospital Healing Space this weekend as the Children’s Team threw its first ever teenagers-only party on Saturday 22 November 2014, attended by young patients from across the country.

Over 100 local people are celebrating gaining employment after successfully completing a Barts Health NHS Trust training scheme to get people from deprived communities in east London into work.
Recognising that employment is linked to improved health outcomes, the Community Works for Health programme is particularly aimed at those with a poor health history, disability or a long term condition.

In a world-first, Barts Health cardiologists have shown that a new freezing technique to treat patients with irregular heartbeats is quicker and more effective than conventional therapy.
The condition, atrial fibrillation (AF), affects the upper two chambers of the heart causing a fast and irregular heartbeat.
