The O’s come bearing gifts for kids on Acorn ward

Leyton Orient captain, Nathan Clarke and midfielder Romain Vincelot, made a festive visit to children on Acorn ward, Whipps Cross Hospital, bearing gifts and signed photographs to help lift spirits as part of their annual Christmas visit. 

Spurs players bring early festive cheer to Acorn ward kids

As part of their annual Christmas visit to children’s wards, Spurs first team players Christian Eriksen, Nacer Chadli and Vlad Chiriches made an early stop to Acorn ward, Whipps Cross Hospital, bearing gifts and presents for all children. They were also accompanied this year by Tottenham Hotspur Ladies team player, Avilla Bergin.

Santa makes a virtual visit to spread Christmas cheer

Christmas came early to children at The Royal London Hospital yesterday (Tuesday 9 December 2014) as Santa beamed in live by video from the North Pole to make sure children were able to let him know their Christmas wishes. With a little help from Santa’s elves, children entered the children’s hospital healing space to find it transformed into a winter wonderland, where they were welcomed by Santa as he appeared on a giant floor-to-ceiling TV to speak with each child, just as if they were in a regular Santa’s grotto.

Parents treated to spa retreat

Parents of children and babies being cared for at The Royal London Hospital were treated to a special pamper and spa day held at the hospital on Tuesday 2 December 2014.Beauticians, masseuses and hairdressers all kindly volunteered their time to offer manicures, hand, shoulder and head massages, as well as offer parents the chance to have their hair cut and styled.

Agreement reached to realise Maggie's Centre and preserve Barts Great Hall

Barts Health NHS Trust, Maggie’s and The Friends of The Great Hall and Archive of St Bartholomew’s Hospital are pleased to announce that an agreement has been reached to take forward shared proposals for a Maggie’s Centre at St Bartholomew’s Hospital and for improved facilities for visitors to the Hospital’s Great Hall. The parties were brought together by the local planning authority, the City of London Corporation after The Friends commenced judicial review proceedings this summer.

Whipps ward staff wish eldest patient a very happy 90th

Staff of Patience Ward at Whipps Cross Hospital gathered on Friday, 28 November 2014 to wish a very happy birthday to their eldest patient, Harry Bitten, who celebrated turning 90 on Sunday 30th.

Helping local people into work

Barts Health doctors freeze away the cause of an irregular heartbeat

In a world-first, Barts Health cardiologists have shown that a new freezing technique to treat patients with irregular heartbeats is quicker and more effective than conventional therapy.  The condition, atrial fibrillation (AF), affects the upper two chambers of the heart causing a fast and irregular heartbeat.
