Our vision is to be a high-performing group of NHS hospitals

Renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing equitable, safe and compassionate care to our patients in east London and beyond. We are now striving towards becoming an outstanding group of hospitals.

Our group priorities for 2024-2025

We are safe, compassionate and efficient

Although the level of demand has not changed in recent years, we are increasingly seeing more people who are sicker or presenting with more complex problems. This challenge may intensify if the population grows as forecast. Yet we are in a good place to respond through the way we operate together as a group, pooling our resources across the Trust to ensure people in need get the right care in the right place at the right time.

Safe, compassionate and efficient: 2024-25 [pdf] 5MB sets out what we intend to do in the year ahead. Through our group model we will make further improvements in services, transforming care as efficiently as possible for the benefit of patients. We will also work closely with our partners in north east London to chart complementary strategies for integrating care in the spirit of collaboration.

Our closer collaboration with Barking, Havering and Redbridge University Hospitals NHS Trust (BHRUT) is part of this and underpins our plans.

In addition to our group operational plan, we have set out how we will achieve our vision in a collection of core strategies

Our quality strategy [pdf] 7MB sets out how we will become a provider of excellent patient safety, known for consistently high standards of harm-free care and always caring for patients in the right place at the right time. It also sets out how we will become an outstanding place to work, in which our WeCare values and behaviours are visible to all and guide us in how we work together. And we outline how we will offer the best possible experience for our patients.

WeBelong

We are proud that our staff work – and many live – in one of the most culturally diverse and vibrant parts of the country.

We are also conscious that east London contains some of the most deprived areas, with the biggest health challenges. It is therefore our top priority to create an inclusive organisation providing equitable services where WeBelong.
